Opening Night Recap: Capitol Hoops Summer League Returns After 2020 Absence
Here is a quick recap of opening night’s matchups; as Capitol Hoops Summer League returned for the first time in two years.

Brandywine Boyz vs The Brook: Brandywine defeated Springbrook by a large margin of 73-55. Despite his team’s loss, Jordan Kwende (50) finished the game with 10 rebounds, the most out of any player. Brandywine’s Tony Pope Jr. (3) scored the most points, with a total of 21.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase (BCC) vs Good Fellas 29 (Oxon Hill): Despite going into halftime leading 29-24, Oxon Hill lost 53-45 against BCC. BCC’s Logan Davis (13) lead the scoring with 18 points. Barons’ Sherma Weatherspoon (4) and Salar Hakimi (33) each lead the game with 12 rebounds.
St. Mary’s Annapolis vs Good Counsel: This closely contested matchup went into overtime, after St. Mary’s hit a clutch 3-pointer to tie the game with a matter of seconds left in the game. However, Corey Chesley (11) led Good Counsel to a 68-65 victory, due to his 20 point game. Good Counsel’s Jordan Braithwaite (33) and Sebastian Dokum (32), as well as St. Mary’s Connor Harris (20) all tied for the most rebounds with 9 each.
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes vs Georgetown Prep: Although not as close as the latter, this in conference matchup was a good game, as Georgetown Prep defeated St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes by a score of 66-57. Despite his team’s loss, Elliott Black (5) scored the most points, with 17. Georgetown Prep’s Khani Rooths (11) led in rebounds with 12.
DeMatha vs Maret: Despite future NBA draft pick and Maret alum Luka Garza’s presence to support his high school, Maret lost 56-32 against DeMatha. DeMatha’s Rodney Rice (4) lead the scoring with 11 points. DeMatha’s Jakoi Hutchinson (12) and Maret’s James Lerner (11) each had the most rebounds, with 5.
Flint Hill vs Pallotti: Flint Hill dominated Pallotti from the start, winning 73-41. Flint Hill’s Saxby Sunderland (1) lead scoring with 22 points, while Matt Gray (30) had the most rebounds with 10 in tonight’s matchup. Pallotti were limited to under 20 points in the second half.
