Annapolis Area Christian vs Grace Brethren

Grace Brethren improves to 7-2 after a 70-59 defeat over Annapolis Area Christian.  

Grace Brethren started off dominant as they took an 11-2 lead after three minutes of play. Grace Brethren played good defense as they forced Annapolis to shoot uncomfortable shots, going 33% from the field. AACS also struggled with taking care of the ball, turning the ball over 10 times which resulted in 11 Grace Brethren points off turnovers. Grace Brethren led 13-6 with 8:30 left in the first half. Grace Brethren had a key scorer in guard Rob Wiggins (‘24) scored 11 points in the first half on 4-7 shooting from the field and 2-4 from three. On Annapolis’s end, guard Eli Croskey (‘25) scored 14 points in the first half on 6-11 shooting. With 10 seconds left in the half, Grace Brethren led 33-20 but Annapolis guard Sam Williams (‘24) hit a three at the buzzer to cut the lead down to ten. The score at the half was 33-23, Grace Brethren up. 

Grace Brethren came out with a different fire in the second half. They went on a big scoring run and by the 10:26 mark, they led by 24. Moments before, Annapolis guard Xander Johnson buried a deep three at the 13:40 mark to give Annapolis 28. He found himself later in the game, scoring 12 points shooting in the second half. In fact, Annapolis found themselves. They shot better in the second half, going 53% from the field while Grace Brethren shot 32% from the field in the second half. At the same time, Grace Brethren forward Ohiozoje Owinje was a contributor on offense, finishing the game with 13 points on 5-7 shooting from the field. With two minutes left to play in the game, Annapolis was within 9 points of Grace Brethren with a score of 66-57 but Grace Brethren held onto their lead and took the victory 70-59. 

Annapolis will look to bounce back and get their sixth win against Clarksville (River Hill) tomorrow while Grace Brethren will look to continue dominant play against St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes.
