Fairfax Christian vs Cavaliers (CG Woodson)

Fairfax Christian was smoked during the 2024 season by the Cavaliers (CG Woodson) in a 22-point loss their final game of the season. But in 2025, the formerly losing CHSL squad has flipped a new switch.

The 2025 VISAA State Champions dominated the court from minute one in its 122-57 victory over the Cavaliers. It’s their highest scoring showing in the team’s CHSL history and second time hitting the 100 point mark. 

2026 point guard Messiah Dixon led Fairfax to victory with 35 points, but the all-senior squad produced across the entire lineup with just six players. Trey Fitch, Jonathan Jennings, and Frank Siaca Bey posted double doubles, Shane Wellman also hit double digit points, and Willie Bennett notched 13 assists to pair with seven points and rebounds. 

Woodson finished second during the 2024 CHSL season with a perfect 8-0 showing. They came into the matchup 2-1, edging out Forest Park by a point and swiftly beating Boys Latin, while falling to private school foe Good Counsel. 

The Cavaliers expected to be a tougher matchup against Fairfax, who crushed its first two opponents by a combined 99 points.  The group instead ran up a 25 point lead just eight minutes into the first half and led by a whopping 44 tallies at halftime.

Fairfax was stellar on offense as expected, shooting 64.1% from the field and 48% from behind the three point line. But they were just as dangerous on the opposite end posting 38 defensive rebounds and an additional 13 steals. 

After a 2-6 campaign in 2024, Fairfax Christian is quickly emerging as a threat to CHSL teams. The group has now won its first three showings straight with a +164 scoring differential over opponents.
