1st Team

Tyler Perkins – Landon 2023, Guard

  • 25.1 ppg 7.4 rpg 2.5 apg
  • Team record 6-2

Tyler Perkins was named league MVP on Monday, before guiding his team to a first round playoff win over Archbishop Spalding. The athletic guard is the motor of his team, and the driving force behind their unexpected success during the summer league regular season. Perkins scored efficiently at all three levels, and made all the right decisions in Landon’s half court sets/transition opportunities. The team’s success and Perkins ability to function as a do it all combo guard made it an easy decision to crown him league MVP.

Greg Jones – Hawks (Hayfield) 2023, Guard

  • 23.9 ppg 7.6 rpg 3.1 apg
  • Team record 7-3

The Hawks’ superstar was a joy to watch throughout the regular season. Whether it was his scoring, playmaking, or defensive impact, Greg Jones had his handprint on every game. With a great shooting stroke and touch around the basket, Jones also knows when to defer to his teammates. He’s the type of player who could start on any team in the league and fit in immediately. The best is yet to come for Greg Jones, and he will be a thrill to watch at the next level.

Nykolas Lewis – Gonzaga 2025, Guard

  • 23.6 ppg 7.4 rpg 3.9 apg
  • Team record 7-3

The fewest points Nykolas Lewis scored in a game this regular season was 19. One of my favorite passers in the league finished third in scoring, and got his team to the playoffs after winning seven games. Lewis has been a menace on the court this summer. He is proving to be one of the premier point guards in the area, with his combination of strength and craftiness with the ball in his hands. With Lewis running the show, Gonzaga has a bright future ahead of them.

Gibraltar Coleman – Flint Hill 2023, Forward

  • 21.8 ppg 8.6 rpg 1.7 apg
  • Team record 4-6

Despite missing the playoffs and struggling to win back to back games, Gibraltar Coleman had a summer to remember. The forward had the biggest game of the regular season with a 41 point 10 rebound performance against undefeated Takoma Academy. Coleman is often at his best working off the ball, when he can walk his defender down to the block, post up and then pop out to the three point line. Not only is Coleman a top five player from the regular season, he is one of the more unique talents in the league.

Rob Dockery – Tenley Tigers 2024, Forward

  • 16.4 ppg 8.6 rpg 3.4 apg
  • Team record 8-2

When it’s all said and done, Rob Dockery might be the best player to come out of the summer league this year. The point forward is a perfect fit in today’s positionless style of basketball. Dockery has the physicality of a forward, and the IQ of a point guard. With the tools to shoot the three ball, put on the ball on the floor, and back down defenders, Dock is a matchup nightmare.

2nd Team

Rejuan Grey – Takoma Academy Forward

  • 14.7 ppg 6.5 rpg 1.8 apg
  • Team record 10-0

Rejuan Grey was the most consistent player on the best team in the league this summer. With a lanky build, and quick feet; Grey was a nuisance on defense. Between blocking shots, and clogging up passing lanes, the flashy forward does it on both ends of the court. As Takoma’s leading scorer, Grey had to operate off the ball a lot in their half court sets, but took control during their fast break opportunities.

Jaden Winston – DeMatha 2023, Guard

  • 11.4 ppg 2.1 rpg 3.6 apg
  • Team record 10-0

DeMatha had another strong summer atop the standings in large part to Jaden Winston’s leadership. Winston set the tone early for the host team of the Capitol Hoops Summer League with a 10 steal performance in their first game. His defensive intensity when picking up opposing players full court is the best I’ve seen this summer. Winston is everything a coach looks for in a point guard.

Conner Venable – The Heights 2023, Guard

  • 23.4 ppg 11 rpg 1.6 apg
  • Team record 3-7

On a struggling team, Connor Venable made the most of his time at summer league. Being a top five scorer and rebounder is a testament of how truly valuable Connor is to his squad. Venable is a mature player with strength that assists his ball handling in getting him to where he wants to be on the court. The way he was shooting the ball towards the end of the regular season, made 30 point games look like a walk in the park.

Aidan Harris – St. Mary’s Annapolis 2023, Forward

  • 18.1 ppg 9.4 rpg 1.7 apg
  • Team record 3-7

Aidan Harris flirted with a double double in just about every game this summer. The forward displayed a natural ability to stretch the floor, and look for his shot off the dribble. Harris had to carry the load for his struggling St. Mary’s team, but did it unselfishly and used the attention he drew on offense to free up teammates.

Khalil Williams – The Potomac School 2023, Guard

  • 18.0 ppg 6.0 rpg 2.0 apg
  • Team record 7-3

The Potomac School was another surprise team this summer that fought their way into the playoffs. The player leading that fight was Khalil Williams. The combo guard took charge when needed and held his own against tough competition. Williams covers a lot of ground on defense, with the potential of becoming a lock down defender.

3rd Team

Cyrus Chisolm – Sandy Spring 2023, Guard

  • 15.3 ppg 9.3 rpg 3.0 apg
  • Team Record 4-6

Cyrus Chisolm was one of the best rebounding guards at summer league this year. At just 6’2”  his presence was felt on the scoreboard and the backboards. Sandy Spring struggled this summer, but came away with some good wins. Chisolm led the way for them throughout the entire regular season.

Dante Mayo – Rockets (Richard Montgomery) 2024, Guard

              • 21.6 ppg 6.0 rpg 1.9 apg
              • Team record 4-6

The most electrifying shooter at summer league was an easy player to root for. The best player on a struggling Rockets team never looked discouraged, and was a constant source of energy for his coach to turn to.

Joseph Baldwin – Fairfax Christian 2023, Forward

  • 13.9 ppg 5.8 rpg 1.3 apg
  • Team record 7-3

Fairfax Christian has a talented roster that doesn’t struggle to put the ball in the basket. Joseph Baldwin fit in perfectly with their lineup, as he applied pressure from all areas of the court. Congrats on a great season Mr. Baldwin, the best is yet to come.

David King – Hawks (Hayfield) 2023, Forward

            • 16.0 ppg 7.8 rpg 1.3 apg
            • Team record 8-2

David King might’ve been the most efficient scorer throughout the regular season. The undersized forward can guard positions 1-5, and drop 20 points with ease.

Tobi Raji – Greenbelt (Eleanor Roosevelt) 2023, Forward

  • 15.7 ppg 15.3 rpg 1.0 apg
  • Team record 4-6

If not for a gruesome shoulder injury, Tobi Raji was on pace to make the all summer league first team. The best rebounder of the regular season is as great a teammate on the court as he is off it.
