In a thrilling finish at the Capitol Hoops Summer League, Bullis snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. With the game on the line, Bullis guard Angelo Dickerson delivered a stunning three-pointer, overturning the Tenley Tigers’ one-point lead to seal the win, 62-60. The Tigers, led by Lane Mahan’s critical basket, had been moments away from triumph before Dickerson’s heroics.

The first half saw the Tigers’ duo of JJ Massaquoi and Jayden Fort combine for 21 points, propelling their team to an eight-point advantage. Despite shooting 46.7% from beyond the arc, the Tigers’ lead dwindled as Bullis rallied back with a 41.9% shooting performance in the second half, matching their opponents’ intensity. Turnovers proved costly for the Tigers, with eight in the second half alone, contributing to Bullis’s comeback.

Yet, Tiger guard Dawit Abraham shone brightly, scoring eight of his total 11 points after the break. This summer league matchup may not carry the weight of regular season play, but the rivalry between Bullis and the Tenley Tigers is intensifying. Their history is marked by close contests, including Bullis’s narrow victory at the 2022 Behan Strong Invitational and the Tigers’ overtime win the following year.

Dickerson’s double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds was a standout performance, matched by Tigers forward Jayden Fort’s 11 points and 11 rebounds. As both teams look ahead, their next encounter could be in the playoffs, the championship, or a local tournament during the regular season. This rivalry is only heating up. Angelo Dickerson, with his game-winning shot and impressive double-double, was deservedly named the Capitol Hoops Player of the Game.
