Spalding vs Good Counsel

Good Counsel and Spalding kicked off their first summer league games in a hard fought, balanced match up. The game resulted in a composed Good Counsel victory with a score of 59-56.

Good Counsel won the tip-off and sparked an early lead within the first ten minutes of play. Hitting their shots and staying consistent, they led the majority of the first half. Spalding stayed consistent as well throughout the first half, finding their spot around the three-point arc, keeping the score of the game close.

Spalding gained their first lead of the half with around 10 minutes left in the half. The Good Counsel Falcons began to capitalize off of Spalding’s loose balls and rebounds, as well as beginning to full court press, resulting in a solid lead of 37-29 for Good Counsel at the half.

Progressing into the second half, both teams were back and forth, trying to find their shot and not force the ball. Good Counsel continued to lead and consecutively full court press with around 10 minutes left in the half. Spalding brought up the momentum, with duo Az Adofo (‘27 G) and Mike Lonergan (‘24 G) finding their spot and getting in their groove, creating energy for their team.

As the score tightened up, Good Counsel stayed composed and consistent with their 22 total free throw attempts, making 16 of them to help stabilize their lead. Parker Robinson (‘26 G), Good Counsel’s lead scorer for the game with 22 points, helped lead the Falcons to a 3 point victory despite the score being tied with less than two minutes remaining.
