Tenley Tigers (Jackson Reed) vs Severn

Severn faced off against the Tenley Tigers( Jackson Reed) on opening day for Capitol Hoops Summer League. The Tigers dominated the game resulting in a drastic 87-41 victory for the Tenley Tigers of  Jackson Reed.

As the game began, Jackson Reed won the tip off and immediately controlled the game. With both teams hitting their early shots at the start and both playing intense man to man defense, the game started off fast paced and physical. 

The Tenley Tigers showed their ability to finish strong as well as effectively driving and kicking the ball, capitalizing off of their height and size they had compared to Severn. Severn worked to play tactically, fighting to keep a close game by picking up a charge as well as making couple shots as the half progressed, and switching to a zone defense. 

Halfway through the first half, Jackson Reed duo Justin Gilmore (‘24 G) and Lucas Sekasi (‘24 G) amped up the energy and created not only for themselves and each other, but for their team as a whole, pulling away to create a 22-14 lead as the half continued on. Jayden Fort (‘25 F) dominated the paint with offensive and defensive rebounds, to have Jackson Reed up 45-15 at half.

As the second half began, Severn continued to try and find their shot and connect passes. The Tigers quick transitioning and counter attacks resulted in the score to become 53-18 early in the second half. Severn was still trying to find any fighting energy remaining with six minutes left, increasing the physicality and implementing a full court press in the final minutes of the game. Jackson Reed dominated the second half similarly to the first, resulting in an impressive team win and a tough loss for Severn, 41-87.
