Brandywine Boyz (Gwynn Park) vs Warriors (Sherwood)

Brandywine Boyz survive a late rally from the Warriors (Sherwood) to win 58-55.  

Brandywine Boyz were able to set the tone early with their defensive effort resulting in easy baskets. Demarcus Daniel (‘24, G) and Ty Bevins (‘24, G) led the charge offensively for Brandywine, scoring 10 and 15 points respectively in the first half. Bevins found his stroke early and often, hitting three jumpers behind the arc. 

Warriors played hard despite being down for the entirety of the first half. Thomas Fenner (‘24, G) hit multiple shots behind the arc, and Chris Hall Taylor (‘24, F) found his way inside for the Warriors. However, Seth Mckinney (‘24, G) hit a jump shot to beat the buzzer, sending Brandywine Boyz with a 35-23 lead into halftime. 

Tony Pope (‘24, G) commanded the offense for Brandywine in the second half, and Demarco Panell (‘24, F) couldn’t be stopped on the boards. On the defensive end, Brandywine continued their full court pressure.  

Evin Thompson (‘25, G) was able to off-set Brandywine’s full court pressure and found Chris Hall Taylor down low consistently. Thomas Fenner continued to impress from behind the arc, finishing the game with seven threes.  

Fenner hit a crucial three to cut the deficit to four with 27 seconds left. Ty Bevins hit a pair of free throws to extend the lead for Brandywine, but Micah Webb (‘24, G) hit an and-1 three to cut the lead to two. Brandywine was able to avoid the Warriors attempt at a foul as time expired, escaping with a win.  

Brandywine Boyz look to stay undefeated as they will play Thursday against New Hope Academy. Warriors will bounce back on Friday against St. Albans.
