The Cadets look strong in their first game of the season, beating Patriot 64-40.
JJ Addison (‘26, G) jumped out to a nice start for the Cadets, hitting a three from the wing to open the game up. Addison got in the lane with ease for the Cadets, which helped collapse the Patriot defense and created space for his shooters. David Dorsey was a force on the down low for the Cadets, finishing with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Patriot held their own throughout the first half led by a nice two-man game in Dezmond Hopkins (‘24, G) and Abe Halim (‘24, G). Big man Isaiah Vick (‘24, F) also did a good job of matching the physicality of the Cadets frontcourt.
The Cadets took a 29-20 halftime lead and extended their lead in the opening minutes of the second half. thanks to four second chance points and a layup in transition from JJ Addison.
The Cadets never looked back, getting strong contributions from Elwyne Wordlaw (‘24, G) and Emonte Hill Jr. (‘25, G), scoring 13 and 10 points respectively. Wordlaw also tallied four steals in the win.
The Cadets won’t play until June 2nd when they play Greenbelt. Patriot will have a quicker turnaround, facing Bullis this Friday.
