Alexandria City defeat the Bulldogs on Friday night, 68-49. Alexandria City moves to 2-1 after dropping their opening game, and the Bulldogs go to 2-2.
Alexandria City took control from the start, led by rising Senior guard, Kye Robinson. Kye Robinson used his physicality to create space, scoring nine first half points. Alexandria City as a team did a good job of drawing contact, which gave them a 24-10 lead with 3:30 left in the first half.
Steve Ngindue (‘24, F) and Melchi Jonah (‘24, F) helped the Bulldogs get back in the game. Ngindue had a nice post move and a big dunk while Jonah hit a mid-range jumper to cut the deficit to 8. Alexandria City was able to halt the Bulldogs’ momentum, going into halftime with a 30-18 lead.
The Bulldogs came out more aggressive in the second half with a couple of steals and easy transition baskets. Jones and Ngindue continued their offensive performance, cutting the lead to seven a few minutes into the half.
Howevever, Kyle Robinson was too much for the Bulldogs defenders. Robinson continued his brilliance, finishing with a season-high 28 points. Robinson impressed with his ball handling and jump shot. Isaiah Henry Burgess (‘24, F) and Sean Burbage (‘24, G) chimed in for Alexandria City, scoring ten and eight points respectively.
Alexandria City will face the Good Fellas on Monday. The Bulldogs have a big opportunity after dropping their last two games with a double header this Saturday.
