Tech Prep vs John Carroll

Tech prep looked like real floor generals as they defeated John Carroll with a finishing score of 50-37. 

John Carroll looked strong against tech prep as they took a comfortable lead from the start. John Caroll took a 12-3 lead with 11:50 to go thanks in large part to ‘26 guard Parris Lee, who had 7 points and ‘25 forward Theartis Battle, who also had 7 points. Tech prep responded with a three from ‘24 guard Joebari parson. John Caroll got into early foul trouble getting Tech prep into the bonus 8:49 into the game. Tech gained their first lead at the 7:20 mark with a 3-ball from ‘25 guard Daniel Bumpass, who had 13 points. As shots started to fall, Tech prep ramped up their defensive intensity. However, Theartis Battle tied the game with a 2-ball with 4:21 left in the first half. Tech really picked up momentum at the end of the first quarter with a dunk from ‘25 center Nazaire Hinton to put them up 7. Tech prep ‘24 guard Rontay Hall beat the buzzer with a three to put them up 9 at the half. The score at the half was 33-23 with Tech prep leading. 

John Carroll showed they weren’t lying down for Tech prep, scoring the first bucket of the second half. Both teams turned their defensive intensity up a notch with John Caroll scoring 13 points off turnovers and Tech prep scoring 14 points off turnovers. John Carroll started to creep up making Tech’s lead only 4. Daniel Bumpass, a major contributor for Tech prep, fouled out with 4:25 to go in the game. Despite this, they went up 9 with 2:45 left in the game, and then went up 12 with 1:39 left. With five score ties and three lead changes, the game concluded with 9 seconds left due to an injury and John Carroll went on to win the game 50-37. 

Tech prep will look to stay strong as they face South Lakes next, and John Carroll will look to bounce back as they face St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes next.
