Wootton got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 13–5 lead behind a big three from Chase Mitchell, who looked poised for a bounce-back performance. However, South River responded with a pair of threes of their own, cutting into the deficit and shifting the momentum. Their defense stepped up as well, forcing key turnovers to stay in striking distance.

By the 7:37 mark of the first half, the Seahawks tied the game at 17–17, attacking the paint and drawing fouls. Wootton regained control briefly, breaking South River’s press and capitalizing on easy baskets to take a slim lead. Despite the back-and-forth pace, the half closed with the Patriots narrowly ahead, 32–31, after South River hit a clutch three-pointer at the buzzer.

The second half continued the high energy, with both teams trading baskets early. With 13:38 remaining, Wootton held a narrow one-point lead. South River generated quality looks from deep but struggled to convert, missing opportunities to grab the lead. Meanwhile, foul trouble crept in as Chase Mitchell picked up his third foul with 10:45 left, forcing Wootton into some tough coaching decisions.

Wootton pulled ahead 48–41 midway through the half, but South River fought back. Hank Oxedine sparked the Seahawks with a crafty transition layup to trim the lead to two with 5:27 remaining. South River stayed committed to the three-ball but couldn’t get consistent results, needing to pivot to more motion and cutting sets.

As regulation came to a close, South River erased the deficit, tying the game at 58–58 to force overtime.

In the extra frame, Chase Winokur stepped up, drilling a clutch three to put Wootton ahead with just a minute left. But South River wasn’t done. With relentless energy and timely execution, they stormed back to steal the game, pulling off a 69–64 overtime victory in dramatic fashion.
