Notable games of the Day 11 of the Capitol Hoops Summer League
Mcnamara VS Bullis: 69-65 This game proved to be a great match between the IAC darling and a WCAC power. The first half was intense and competitive with teams both changing leads all throughout the first half until McNamara hit a big three to close the half and hold a lead by 3. The second half started just as competitive with both teams resuming their back and forth play. Bullis found a way to take the lead in the second half against a Mcnamara team that would not let up. Fortunately Bullis found a way to gut out the win 69-65 and remain undefeated in league play. Notable players Jeremiah Quigley 17 pts (Mcnamara), Caden Diggs 17 pts (Bullis).
Spalding VS Good Counsel: The second slate of games came with the same energy as the first. However, the first few minutes of this big time matchup came with sluggish moments when it first started. Luckily for our entertainment the first half picked up and this game became quite competitive. Spalding and Good Counsel sparring back and forth throughout the first half. In the second half the same pace continued for both teams which led the closing seconds of the game down to the wire. Good Counsel however found a way to prevail with the victory 52-49. Reico Hellams 16 pts (Good Counsel), Holden Williamson (Spalding) 13 pts.
Cavaliers VS The Brook: On the other court we had another exciting game going on right next to the Spalding VS Good Counsel game. The Cavaliers and The Brook decided to keep the trend of closely called games going with multiple league changes in the first half. The second half of the game was even more competitive with The Brook attempting to win their first game in the summer league. Sadly despite their hard effort, The Cavaliers hit a last second three pointer to crush the hopes of a clean victory. Notable players Owen Lathrop (Cavaliers) 19 pts, Roman Redder (The Brook) 13 pts.
Flint Hill VS Vikes : It appears that the games definitely took on a trend today for intense nail biters because Flint Hill and the Vikes definitely brought that into this old school public versus private school grudge match. The first half lived up to its potential as a tough gritty match up for the third set games on court 2. Both teams were trading baskets each possession with a little bit of grit after each play. The first half was so intense, the game was a complete toss up and it could go either way. The second half proved to be no different, with several league changes throughout the half. Toward the end things got a little chippy but despite the intensity levels turned up to hot, Flint Hill was cool under the pressure and finished on top 66-62. Notable players Gibralter Coleman (Flint Hill) 22 pts, Thomas Farrell (Vikes) 25 pts
