On Day 5 of the Capitol Hoops Summer League  these were the games that were the most notable and intriguing of the day.

Mcnamara VS Bulldogs: 69-62 The first game of day 5 of the summer league was a competitive one that brought energy to a rainy Thursday afternoon on Madison Street. The Bulldogs came out the gate with high energy plays keeping Mcnamara on their toes throughout the whole first half. Luckily for the spectators entertainment, the energy continued throughout the start of the second half until Mcnamara started to break away and contain the upstart Bulldogs to give a final score of 69-62. Jeremiah Quigley (Mcnamara) 21 pts, Isaiah Mbeng 18 pts,

Landon VS Spalding: 73-59: Now based on the score and the stat sheet one wouldn’t think that this game was very competitive, well the stats do not tell the full story. Landon had control of the game right from the beginning being up almost 15 at the half. However, Spalding was playing with the energy like they were in the lead. The tenacious Spalding team fought hard in the first half but even fought harder in the second half. Despite the team’s will power to never give up, Spalding still came up short in the hard fought game against Landon 73-59. Notable Players Malik Washington (Spalding) 14 pts, Tyler Perkins (Landon) 25 pts.

Gonzaga VS Hawks: 61-63 as expected the final game of the night  was going to be a competitive and an old school matchup between WCAC royalty vs the defending class 6 state champions of Virginia. While Gonzaga took a strong lead in the first half, Hawks showed once again that they can play with the power teams of the area. Similar story in the beginning of the second half Gonzaga had control until the Hawks clawed back in the late second half with late play heroics and a buzzer beater from Andy Ramirez in the final seconds. Hawks edge Gonzaga 63-61. Notable Players: Greg Jones (Hawks) 26 pts, Derek Dixon (Gonzaga) 17 pts.
