Here’s a look at our pick of 10 “players of the week” plus some other standout performers from Week 2.

Andrew Maria (Yorktown ’25)
vs Flint Hill: 49 pts, 7 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl
vs St. Mary’s Annapolis: 23 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk

Back to back player of the week selections for Andrew Maria, who put up a CHSL high of 49 points on 74% shooting in a win against Flint Hill.  Maria and guard Jake Coulam have opened up eyes in Yorktown’s debut season in the CHSL.

Grant Polk (St. Albans ’25)
vs Hornets (Fairmont Heights): 42 pts, 16 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk
vs Trojans (Gaithersburg): 27 pts, 9 reb, 7 ast, 3 stl
vs John Carroll: 34 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk

Another back to back selection for players of the week, Polk continues to light up the CHSL for St. Albans.  Polk put up one of the best games in CHSL history on Sunday, dropping 42 points and 16 rebounds on the Hornets (Fairmont Heights) with 16/22 shooting from the field, and 8/11 from 3.  Polk went 20/34 from 3 through 3 games in Week 2 and is now sitting at 32.6 ppg for the season on 57.3%/54.7%/88.9% shooting splits.  Polk can shoot over defenders at 6’6 and is not afraid to let it fly.

JJ Kelly (Chambersburg ’25)
vs Trojans (Gaithersburg): 30 pts, 9 reb, 2 blk
vs Vikes (Whitman): 35 pts, 10 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk

Great performance last week for Chambersburg’s JJ Kelly with back to back 30+ point games on the same night.  After a tough loss to the Vikes (Whitman), Kelly put up 30 and 9 on 11/15 shooting to lead Chambersburg over the Trojans (Gaithersburg) for Chambersburg’s first ever CHSL win.  Kelly is one of the biggest mismatches in the CHSL with his 6’6 size and strong frame and is a strong defensive presence for Chambersburg.

Angel Long (Gaithersburg ’25)
vs St. Albans: 27 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl
vs Chambersburg (PA): 32 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl

One of the best guards in the CHSL so far has been Angel Long, who is now averaging 26.2 ppg after a huge Week 2.   Despite the Trojans taking 2 tough losses this week after a 2-0 start, Long averaged 29.5 PPG in the 2 games on 52% shooting from the field and 40% from 3.  Long also now has 8 steals through 3 games.

Haki Muhammad II (New Hope ’25)
vs Flint Hill: 24 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast, 5 stl
vs Takoma Academy: 28 pts, 8 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk

CHSL vet Haki Muhammad had a very strong week for New Hope, putting up 28 and 8 in a win against Takoma Academy and putting up 24 points and 5 steals in a loss against Flint Hill.  Muhammad is one of the most fearless players in the CHSL and has showcased an ability to score on all 3 levels.  Muhammad is  averaging 25.0 PPG for the season.

Akim Iscandari (Potomac School ’26)
vs TJ: 17 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast, 5 stl
vs Landon: 22 pts, 7 reb, 6 ast, 1 stl
vs Vikes: 25 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 4 stl

The class of 2026 guard from Potomac School had a fantastic week for the Panthers, filling the stat sheet while shooting over 50% in all 3 games to help Potomac School go 2-1 in Week 2.  Iscandari is now averaging 20.5/5.8/4.5 with 4.0 steals per game.

Tavares Vaughn-Cooper (RM ’26)
vs Sandy Spring: 13 points, 4 reb, 7 ast
vs Chambersburg: 17 pts, 5 reb, 3 stl
vs Patriot: 20 pts, 7 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl
vs TJ: 21 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl

A great week for Vaughn-Cooper and 4-0 RM.  Another public school guard to watch this summer and into the winter, Vaughn-Cooper has taken a big step up for RM after the graduation of Dante Mayo.  Averaging 17.8/4.8/3.3 through 4 games, Vaughn-Cooper has been all over the court offensively and defensively and has been the catalyst for RM’s 4-0 start.

Aidan Able (John Carroll ’26)
vs St. Albans: 40 pts, 9 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl

Despite playing just 1 game in Week 2, Able had one of the most impressive games of the summer so far – dropping 40 points on 11/20 shooting and 18/20 from the FT line in a 22 point comeback win against St. Albans.  After being down 16 at halftime, Able was dominant in the 2nd half plus overtime with 28 points and 14 made free throws.  He also grabbed 5 offensive rebounds all after halftime.   John Carroll is now 2-0 and Able is averaging a ridiculous 36.5 PPG through both games.

Khalib Norcome (Clinton Grace ’26)
vs Lanham Christian: 20 pts, 9 reb, 4 ast, 2 blk
vs Riverdale Baptist: 10 pts, 9 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl
vs South County: 25 pts, 12 reb, 1 ast, 3 stl

The transfer from Mt. Zion has been an absolute force for Clinton Grace so far.  Norcome had 25 and 12 with 3 steals in a big win vs South County while going 11/15 from the field.  The 6’6 wing is tough to stop in transition and is relentless on the glass.  Norcome had 14 offensive rebounds in 3 games for Grace.

Jamaal McKnight (DeMatha ’25)
vs Mustangs: 9 pts, 5 reb, 7 ast
vs Tenley Tigers: 10 pts, 7 reb, 5 ast, 3 stl
vs SSSAS: 8 pts, 2 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl
vs Bullis: 16 pts, 2 reb, 4 ast, 4 stl
vs Cardozo: 2 pts, 2 reb, 4 ast

With a perfect 5-0 Week 2 for DeMatha that saw many key contributors up and down the lineup, Jamaal McKnight earns player of the week honors after playing all 5 games and leading the Stags over Bullis in the biggest matchup of the CHSL schedule.  McKnight looks primed for a huge sophomore year as one of the most dynamic guards in the DMV.
