Our Capitol Hoops Summer League Player of the Week is Jeremiah Williams, and the honorable mentions are Jordan Fox, Michael Bean, DJ Lee, Gabe Colston, Hank Oxedine, and Christian Cole.

Player of the Week: Jeremiah Williams — Walter Johnson

Jeremiah Williams is a 6-foot-5 guard in the Class of 2029. Jeremiah plays for Boo Williams in AAU and is the son of former NBA legend Jerome Williams. He put the Wildcats on his back as Walter Johnson has gone 3-0 this week. Williams’ highlight game was in the win over Crofton, 77-45, where he had 32 points, 2 assists, and 9 rebounds. This week, Williams combined for 78 points, 21 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks. Jeremiah’s offensive strength is his maturity as a younger guard; he doesn’t take very many bad shots and is a very good decision-maker on the court. Another strength for him offensively is that he makes over 50% of his shots inside the paint. Williams’ ability to cover the court with his lengthy wingspan makes him an ideal defender for many teams, including at the collegiate level. He is averaging 28.2 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Jeremiah looks to take the Vikings (5-1) far into the Summer League playoffs. Williams’ next game is today, Monday, June 8th, vs. Boys’ Latin.

Players of the Week: Jordan Fox — Purple Storm (Cardozo)

Jordan Fox is a 6-foot-2 guard in the Class of 2028 who plays for New World in AAU. Jordan has led Cardozo to a 1-2 record this week and has scored a total of 86 points. Jordan’s highlight game came in the loss to Landon, 61-87. Fox had 37 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. On top of that, Jordan was incredibly efficient, shooting 48.1% from the field. Jordan is a fantastic three-level scorer, getting it done in the paint, on the perimeter, and beyond the arc. These abilities have allowed Fox to average 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. Defensively, his ability to grab a high amount of defensive rebounds off the glass is his strength. Jordan has led the Purple Storm to a 4-3 record, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.

Michael Bean — BCC

Michael Bean is a 6-foot-2 forward in the Class of 2027. Michael, offensively, is a very efficient scorer, especially beyond the arc, shooting 36.4%. He affects the court on the defensive end by being able to rebound at a high level. Bean’s highlight game came in the loss to Bethel, 45-74, where he had 25 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. All in all, Michael has scored 17 or more points in four games. In his second Summer League season, he is averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2 assists. He is the team’s X-factor for BCC (2-2), and with performances like he has been having, he is going to have a great senior season. Bean’s next game is Tuesday, June 9th, against Boys’ Latin at DeMatha.

DJ Lee — Severn

DJ Lee is a 6-foot-2 guard in the Class of 2027. DJ’s strengths offensively are being one of the best perimeter scorers in Summer League. He has been able to knock down threes with ease game after game. Defensively, he causes havoc by creating loose balls, disrupting passes, and taking charges. Lee recently had a Thursday, June 4th, to remember. Although his team lost both games, falling to Mustangs (Meade) 47-50 and then 50-64 to Loyola Blakefield, he combined for 41 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. He is averaging 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. Although Severn is not off to the hottest start at 1-4, DJ has been outstanding, and there is much more to come for this senior. Lee’s next game is today, Monday, June 8th, vs. South River in Annapolis.

Gabe Colston — JFK (Kennedy)

Gabe Colston is a 6-foot-4 guard in the Class of 2027 who plays for Team Takeover in AAU. Gabe followed up last week, where he was named Player of the Week, with another 30-point performance. In Gabe’s third year of Summer League, he is averaging 33.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Colston’s strength as a shooter is his quick release, which makes him hard to defend. On the defensive end, he uses his quick feet, allowing him to also be a premier defender. In Kennedy’s only game this week, a 70-64 win over Gonzaga, he had 38 points, 7 steals, 3 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. This was Gabe’s fourth 30-point performance in five games, and in the only game where he did not score 30, he had 29 points. Every game for Colston seems to get better in a different statistical category; this time it was steals. With these kinds of performances week after week, he is definitely putting himself in the MVP conversation. Gabe’s next game is today, Monday, June 8th, against St. Mary’s Annapolis at DeMatha.

Hank Oxedine — Seahawks (South River)

Hank Oxedine is a 6-foot-3 guard in the Class of 2027. Offensively, Hank’s strength is his ability to score from any spot on the court, but when that is not going well, he is able to dish the ball out to his teammates for assists. Defensively, his strength is his ability to rebound the ball as a guard. Hank’s highlight game was on Friday, June 5th, in the win over John Carroll, 88-62, when he recorded a triple-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. That game was in the second leg of South River’s doubleheader. In his first game of the day, he had 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. In his third Summer League season, he is averaging 22.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. Oxedine has led the Seahawks to a 3-2 record this summer, and with his scoring ability, there are many more wins to come for this senior. Hank’s next game is today, Monday, June 8th, in Annapolis vs. Boys’ Latin.

Christian Cole — Patriot

Christian Cole is a 6-foot-1 guard in the Class of 2027. Christian’s strength offensively is his three-point shooting, as he is shooting 40%. Defensively, his strength is disrupting opposing players’ dribbling by being able to poke the ball away, which leads to a high number of steals for this senior. He has combined for 58 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals across three games. Cole’s highlight game came in the win over South County, 75-71, where he had 25 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. Overall, he is averaging 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across five games. With that kind of production, he has led Patriot to a 5-0 record and is quietly helping them become one of the hottest teams in Summer League. Christian’s next game is today, Monday, June 8th, against The West (Northwest) at DeMatha.
