Tyler Perkins has come to HOOP at this year’s summer league. The 6’5″ guard, a rising senior, has led Landon to a third-place 3-1 record, including Friday’s electrifying comeback win against the Tenley Tigers. Through four games, Perkins is averaging 27.3 points per game on 51.7% from the field, proving himself to be one of the premier players in the CHSL.

Corey Chesley (Good Counsel ’23 G)

  • Corey Chesley rocking #11 for Good Counsel at Capitol Hoops Summer League.

    vs. Patriot: 29 pt (11-16 FG, 5-7 3FG), 7 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk, 1 stl

  • vs. St. Mary’s Annapolis: 22 pt, 9 reb, 3 stl
  • Avg. 25.5 pt, 8 reb, 2 stl, 61.3% FG, 53.8% 3FG

Good Counsel won both of their games in week one, and Corey Chesley was a big reason why. Last year’s all summer league honorable mention has been a thrill to watch. Whether it’s scoring at an efficient pace or crashing the boards, Chesley has showcased a blend of athleticism mixed with a high basketball IQ. Chesley finished week one averaging 25.5 points and 8 rebounds.

Greg Jones (Hawks (Hayfield) ’23 G)

  • vs. DeMatha: 33 pt, 10 reb, 1 ast, 3 stl

  • Avg. 30.0 pt, 6.7 reb, 2.7 ast, 2.7 stl
Greg Jones postgame after another big performance.

On a smaller Hayfield team, Greg Jones’ game has stood tall. The 6’6” guard is the league’s leading scorer at 30 points per game, and has proven to be Hayfield’s spark plug. Leading his team to win two of their first three games, and putting up a 30 point double double in their lone loss to DeMatha, Jones is capable of getting to the hoop and converting at the free throw line.

Gibraltar Coleman (Flint Hill ’22 F)

  • vs. Fairfax Christian: 27 pt (9-18 FG, 4-7 3FG), 13 reb, 4 ast, 2 blk
  • vs. Cavaliers (W.T. Woodson): 16 pt, 14 reb, 3 ast, 1 blk
  • Avg. 19.7 pt, 12 reb, 3 ast, 1 blk

Flint Hill’s big man is proving to be one of the top bigs in the league. Coleman had an impressive season opener, tallying 27 points (9-18 FG, 4-7 3FG), 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. Through three games, Coleman is one of two players in the CHSL (min. 2 games played) averaging a double double, at 19.7 points and 12 rebounds per game.

Cyrus Chisolm (Sandy Spring ’23 G)

  • Avg. 12.3 pt, 10.3 reb, 3.0 ast, 2.3 stl

Cyrus Chisolm is 6’2” averaging just over 10 rebounds per game. This not only makes him one of two players averaging a double double, but also places him as the sixth placed rebounder in summer league. Chisholm is a do it all guard that has been brilliant at getting his teammates involved.

Rob Dockery eyes the basket from the free throw line.

Rob Dockery (Tenley Tigers (Jackson Reed) ‘24 F)

  • vs Potomac: 24 points 10 boards 3 assists in W
  • vs Landon: 26 points

Last summer, Dockery earned all-summer league second team honors. Dockery has started the season hot, as he posted 24 points (81.8% FG) and 10 boards in a win against Potomac. The star player from the Tenley Tigers is one to look out for in the MVP conversation later in the season.

Malik Washington (Spalding ’25 W)

  • vs. Severn: 9 pt, 5 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl
  • vs. McNamara: 15 pt (6-7 FG), 8 reb, 2 blk
  • Avg. 12 pts, 6.5 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk, 76.9% FG in 2 games

What Malik Washington does on the court isn’t always represented on the stat sheet. The Spalding quarterback has proven to be a leader on the field and the hardwood. In their comeback win over McNamara on Tuesday, Washington fought for his teammates and proved his impact in one of the more thrilling games of the week.

Bryson Wilson (St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes ‘23 W)

  • vs. Wolverines (Westlake): 14 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast, 5 stl, 2 blk
  • vs Gonzaga: 12 pt, 9 reb, 8 ast, 3 blk, 2 stl

The 6’6″ wing has done it all for the top-seeded St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes thus far. Wilson is one of the top passers in the league, averaging 5 assists per game. In addition, he has posted solid rebounding numbers (7.3 rebounds per game) and been an effective defender (3.3 steals and 1.7 blocks per game). His numbers aren’t the flashiest, but he consistently makes winning plays for his team.

Dezmond Hopkins (Patriot ’24 G)

  • vs.Good Counsel: 18 pt, 4 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl
  • vs.NCA: 24 pt, 10 reb, 1 ast, 3 stl
  • Avg. 21 pt, 7 reb, 2 stl

Dezmond Hopkins capped off Patriot’s 78-69 win over National Christian with a 20 point double double. Hopkins has the ability to create extra possessions for his team, and values the ball. With just one turnover through summer league so far, and his use of quick feet and quick hands Hopkins has earned his spot as a highly valued player at CHSL.

Aidan Harris (St. Mary’s Annapolis ’23 W)

  • vs.TA: 27 pt (10-20 FG), 17 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl, 1 blk

Throughout the week, Harris showed his great ability to get to the basket and create shot opportunities with his lengthy frame.
