Tobi Raji is all smiles after another 20 point, 20 rebound performance.

Tobi Raji (Greenbelt (Eleanor Roosevelt) ’23 F)

  • vs McNamara: 21 pt, 24 reb (13 offensive), 1 blk
  • vs Good Fellas: 29 pt, 15 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk

Bigs everywhere are smiling at Raji’s statline. The big man from Greenbelt has shown that he is, far and away, one of the most dominant rebounders in the CHSL. Raji uses his strength and 6’8″ frame to grab boards and finish strong inside.

Solomon Mensah (Trojans (Gaithersburg) ’23 G)

  • vs The Brook: 23 pts, 10 reb, 11/17 FG, 0 TO
  • vs Severn: 30 pts, 12 reb

At 6’3” the Trojans guard can score effortlessly in fastbreak situations, while being a mismatch in half court scenarios. With two double doubles this week the big body guard proved he is a three level scorer, who is on the verge of being one of the best two way players in Summer League.

Jeremiah Quigley (McNamara ’23 G)

  • vs Bulldogs (Churchill): 21 pt, 5 reb, 3 ast
  • vs Greenbelt (Eleanor Roosevelt): 22 pt, 8 reb, 6 ast, 1 blk, 2 stl
  • 72.2% FG

After missing McNamara’s first game of summer league, Quigley came out and led his team to two wins over some of the league’s best teams. He showed his ability to dominate defenses by creating open looks for himself and his teammates, averaging 21.5 points per game on 72.2% from the field, as well as 4.5 assists per game.

Cyrus Chisolm (Sandy Spring ’23 G)

  • vs St. Mary’s Annapolis: 20 pts 7 reb  + GO-AHEAD BUCKET
  • vs BCC: 15 pt, 14 reb, 1 ast, 4 stl, 1 blk

Cyrus Chisolm is no fluke. The only returning player from Week one’s honorees had another week to remember. The Sandy Spring guard is fearless acting the interior. Whether it’s for a game winning shot or to battle amongst the trees for a rebound, Chisholm is the heartbeat for an underdog Sandy Spring team that went 2-0 in week two.

Isaiah Mbeng walks the ball up the court.

Isaiah Mbeng (Bulldogs (Churchill) ’23 G)

  • vs. McNamara: 18 pt, 7 reb, 3 ast, 4 stl
  • vs Flint Hill: 27 pt, 4 reb, 6 ast, 7 stl
  • vs Greenbelt: 12 pt, 4 reb, 5 ast, 6 stl

As part of the Bulldogs’ three-headed monster, Mbeng is able to score at all three levels. He also creates quality looks for his teammates, averaging 4.5 apg, putting himself in the top 5 assist leaders of the league. On top of that, he has wreaked havoc on offenses across the league, putting up a stunning 17 steals in 3 games this week.

Watch your head! Rejuan Grey cleared for takeoff.

Rejuan Grey (Takoma Academy ’23 W)

  • vs Rockets: 15 pt, 7 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk, 2 stl
  • vs The Heights: 19 pt, 5 reb, 1 ast (6-7 FG)

Rejuan Grey has been a flashy surprise at Summer League this year. The lanky wingplayer busted out the patented Pistol Pete/Rajon Rondo behind the back, wraparound pass fake that left defenders frozen in their tracks on his way to collect two of his 19 points in Takoma’s 48 point win against The Heights on Friday. Takoma Academy is undefeated so far through week two and they’re acting like it.

Ty Bevins (Brandywine Boyz (Gwynn Park) ’24 G)

  • vs Rockets: 12 pt, 11 reb, 7 ast, 2 blk, 2 stl
  • vs Eagles White: 8 pt, 12 reb, 5 ast, 1 blk, 3 stl

After earning all-CHSL honorable mention last summer, Bevins continues to show out for the Brandywine Boyz. Standing at 6-foot-4, he is a very versatile guard who can score, rebound, pass, and defend effectively. As the facilitator of the offense, he averages a league-high 5.3 assists per game (min. 2 games played).

Ben Bradford sizes up his defender.

Ben Bradford (Trojans (Gaithersburg) ’23 G)

  • vs Severn: 16 pt, 4 reb, 1 ast
  • vs The Brook: 20 pt, 6 reb, 2 ast, 6 stl
  • vs Patriot: 25 pt, 4 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl

Go ahead, run a 1-2-2 full court zone or man press, it doesn’t matter when you’re playing against Ben Bradford. The Trojan’s guard has displayed deep range and tantalizing ball handling that will give an opposing coach headaches. He proved his potential on defense as well, coming away with six steals against The Brook on Thursday.

Connor Venable surveys the defense on his way to the hoop.

Conner Venable (The Heights ’23 G)

  • Vs. BCC: 22 pts 8 reb 3 ast 2 stl 2 blk
  • Vs. Takoma Academy: 18 pts 12 reb 4 stl 2 blk

Last year, Venable transferred from Jackson Reed to The Heights. Averaging nearly a double double thus far in CHSL, with 20 ppg and 10 rpg this week, Venable has been the motor for his new team. Venable, though standing at just 6-foot-1, uses his great strength and athleticism to work his opponents inside and help his team compete.

Dezmond Hopkins (Patriot ‘24 G)

  • vs Trojans: 15 pts, 4 reb, 2 stl,
  • Vs Wolverines: 20 pt, 5 reb, 3 ast, stl, 4 three pointers, 0 TO
Dezmond Hopkins converts at the free throw line against The Trojans.

Dezmond Hopkins plays at his own pace, and lets the outcome of the game speak for itself. As the Patriot’s most consistent player, the guard handles pressure and doesn’t force shots. Hopkins and his team continue to improve game by game, making him an exciting player to look out for in the coming weeks.
