Cadets (Frederick) vs The Heights

The 7-1 Cadets (Frederick) defeated 0-7 The Heights in dominant fashion on Saturday morning. 

The game was tied at 8 a piece with 12 minutes to go in the first, but the Cadets (Frederick) extended the lead to 15 with 5 minutes left. With the Cadets coach encouraging ball movement, ‘24 guard Elwyne Wordlaw pushed the ball the whole first half which allowed many shots, specifically threes, to open up on the wing. The Heights ‘24 guard Anthony Fountain contributed 25 points in the competition while ‘25 forward Larry Kilmer had a hot hand, shooting 4-9 from three. With Fountain finding it easy to skipt through the lane and complete inside shots and Kilmer hitting some key threes, The Heights had a 6 point lead at the 14:05 mark. However, the Cadets took over and led by 20 with 2 minutes to go in the first, due in large part to combo guard David Dorsey (‘24) and guard Josiah Teasley (‘25). In the second half, the Cadets (Frederick) put a full-court press on the heights, which caused 15 turnovers and resulted in 19 points off those turnovers. The Cadets ‘24 combo guard David Dorsey was firing on all cylinders in the second half, going a perfect 10-10 in field goals and scoring 22 points to go with 1 block. The most impressive thing about his performance is that he only played 15 minutes. On the other hand, The Heights turned the intensity up a notch, scoring 10 fast break points. The Cadets had an outstanding 50 points in the paint while The Heights had 14. Larry Kilmer was consistent from 3 for The Heights and Anthony Fountain was also a reliable scorer for The Heights in the second half but that didn’t slow the Cadets down as their lead extended to 33 with 1:45 left to go in the game. The final score was 80-46, the Cadets victory. 

The Cadets will look to continue their playoff bound season against Largo later today, while The Heights will look to get a win under their belt vs BCC later today as well.
