Clarksville (River Hill) improved to 4-4 after a dominant win against the Seahawks (South River) with a final score of 85-48.

The game started off close with Clarksville (River Hill) being up 7-5 with 13 minutes left to play in the first. Both teams were struggling in the scoring department, with the score being only 11-10 (Seahawks up) at the 9:18 mark. The Seahawks went up 14-10 at the 8:40 mark after a 3-pointer from guard Jonah Hall (‘24) to beat the shot clock. James Crimaudo (‘24) then hit a three less than a minute later to give the Seahawks 17. At the same time, Clarksville’s inside game was unguardable, putting them within one point of the Seahawks. Clarksville regained the lead (18-17) at 7:10 after a 2-ball. James Crimaudo hit another three to tie the game at 20 but Clarksville again responded with an inside bucket. Crimuado got to the line for 2, knocked both down and the score was tied at 22. The next play, Clarksville responded with an and-1 layup which put them up 24-22.The Seahawks turned the ball over a lot which resulted in a couple of Clarksville buckets late in the half. Despite the Seahawks turnovers, their three point shooting kept them in the game. The score at the half was 34-30, Clarksville had the lead.

Clarksville took a 4 point lead with 12 minutes to go in the second half. With 10 minutes left to play in the game, Clarksville gained an eleven point lead as mid range shots fell. They continued to shoot well from all areas and cherished every possession they got off a Seahawk turnover. They led the Seahawks 60-44 with 7 minutes left to play. However, Clarksville became sloppy and turned the ball over a couple of times themselves. Fortunately for them, the Seahawks didn’t score off the turnovers. At the 3:45 mark, Clarksville eclipsed a 30 point lead with a score of 77-44. Clarksville looked completely different in the second half, as they shot the lights out, making the Seahawks pay for not stepping up. With 1 minute left to play in the game, Clarksville gained a 40 point lead with a score of 85-48 as the Seahawks became very careless with the ball. Clarksville won the game 85-48.

As the Seahawks (South River) finished their season 0-9, they will regroup in hopes of being a more competitive team in the Capitol hoops summer league next year. On the other hand, Clarkesville (River Hill) will look to continue their dominant play against the Cadets (Frederick) next Monday evening to improve to 5-4.
