Cadets (Frederick) vs Clarksville (River Hill)

The Cadets (Frederick) inside presence is too overwhelming as they defeat Clarksville (River Hill) 69-53. 

The first half of the match was competitive as there were 6 score ties and 4 lead changes. The Cadets had key scorers in Ivan Quijada who scored 9 points on 4-9 shooting from the field and David Dorsey who had 6 points on 3-6 shooting from the field. What’s impressive on Ivan’s end is that he did this with only 7 minutes of playing time in the first half. The Cadets overwhelmed Clarksville in the paint, out scoring them 20-12 and out rebounding them 29-19. To Clarksville’s credit, they shot better than the Cadets from the field and the three, boasting 32% and 22% respectively. The Cadets went into the half leading Clarksville 28-27. 

In the second half, the Cadets figured that disciplining themselves would be the way to go as they took significantly less shots in the second half. In the first half, they took 41 shots and only made 13 while they shot 2-17 from the three. This half they took 28 shots and made 14 of them while they shot 2-3 from the three. The Cadets again dominated Clarksville in the paint, out scoring them 24-14 and out rebounding them 25-15. Three of Clarksville’s players racked up points in the double digits. This includes guard Braden Sauritch who finished the game with 13 points on 5-17 shooting. On the other hand, four of the Cadets players racked up points in the double digits. One of them is forward David Dorsey who had 12 points on 5-12 shooting and collected an impressive 17 rebounds, a true horse on the boards. The Cadets were up 56-50 with 3:30 to go in the game. It’s important to note the Cadets shot tremendously from the free throw line in bonus situations the last 3 minutes of the game. With 1 minute left to play in the game, the Cadets had the lead 66-53 and went on to win the game 69-53. 

Clarksville (River Hill) will look to bounce back against Annapolis Area Christian tomorrow evening as the Cadets (Frederick) will look to stay strong against South Lakes later today.
