Bullis vs Patriots (Wootton)

Bullis moves to 7-0 and maintains the overall number one seed in CHSL, beating the Patriots, 57-45. 

Both teams started off slow with the opening basket not coming until two minutes in from Luke Salzman (‘24, F) for Bullis. Salzman was everywhere for Bullis in the first half, scoring six points and grabbing seven rebounds, which gave Bullis a multitude of second chance points. 

Despite Bullis grabbing the early lead, the Patriots took control of the game from the perimeter. Kiari Hyde (‘25, G) hit two early threes, but it was a balanced attack from the Patriots. The Patriots matched Bullis’ athleticism on the defensive end, helping them take a 13-8 lead with seven minutes left. 

Adrien Stevens (‘25, G) responded for Bullis, hitting a mid-range jumper and following with an and-1. Stevens led Bullis offensively, scoring 15 points in the first half, which gave them a 27-18 lead entering halftime. 

Luke Salzman opened the half with another bucket down low, dominating the interior all game for Bullis. Much was the same on the other end as Kiari Hyde continued to look for his shot behind the arc. Hyde kept the Patriots in the game, scoring 14 points and shooting 4-of-8 from three.

Hyde’s effort wasn’t enough as Bullis began to take control of the game, jumping out to a double-digit lead early in the second half. Adrien Stevens continued to shine and had a big dunk in transition midway through the second half. The Patriots tried to shoot their way out of the deficit, cutting the lead to 11, but it was too little too late. 

The Bullis will play later tonight against the Mustangs while The Patriots will play this Sunday against the Bruins.
