Coming off a big win against Churchill, the Mustangs looked to go 2-0 on the day in summer league play. The Mustangs started strong, showcasing their offensive efficiency early on. Keon Scott was able to get it going early in the 1 st half, which led to Meade taking a commanding lead early in the game. Meade had an emphasis on slowing down St. Mary’s guard Jovani Hall for them to control the game. Hall was able to get his spots on the court with ease, but the defense of the Mustangs was too suffocating. Meade was able to make the Saints of St. Mary’s play at their pace, which led to a 58-32 lead at halftime. The Mustangs continued to use this momentum going into the 2 nd half, showing Meade’s true depth throughout the rest of the game. It was total domination from Meade with a score of 101-67, which is a summer league record for most points scored in a game. Keon Scott, Jayvon Thomas, Arouna Soumaoro, and Kenny Lipscomb combined for 62 of Meade’s 101 points. After a 23-4 record in the regular season, with most of their returners coming back, the Mustangs are looking forward to proving that they’re one of the best teams in the area.
